What will happen if the weather is bad and it’s impossible to make one of the flights programmed in the Vitoria-Gasteiz Hot Air Balloon Race?

We have an Alternative Plan for each day if the weather prevents one or more of the hot air balloon races included in the programme. The hot air balloon race event is subject to weather conditions.

How many times will I have to fly my hot air balloon during the hot air balloon regatta?

There are programmed flights every day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon (except on Sunday) making five flights in total.

Should I take out insurance?

Yes, one of the requirements to register for the RIG (International Hot Air Balloon Race) is that the hot air balloon pilot or the race team should take out an insurance policy covering both the crew, helpers (if there were any) and third party (broken power lines, land, etc.)

Can I attend the RIG hot air balloon event with friends and family?

Yes, bring whoever you want, but please give us prior notice as the RIG PACK is for the pilot and one companion.

Will I receive help from the organization to refuel, assemble the hot air balloon, etc?

Yes, there will be RIG volunteers trained to carry out any assistance you might need and these will be assigned to any pilot requesting this.
